Last One

As of late last night, my last guest post went up over at LitKicks. Although informative, it's also a pretty funny (I think) spin on some of the shenanigans that go on when publishers acquire authors.

Mary, this series was totally hilarious. I've been puzzling over the whole process of publishing houses since I read PD James Original Sin. I happen to work for a children's publisher, though I am on the consumer side of the business and don't get to see the true publishing P&L. Great stuff!

I'm glad you enjoyed it, Jamie! When I worked in publishing, I was in a sales department that sold to bookstores and wholesalers. Although the models I set up were super-simplified, I hope they gave everyone a better idea of how publishers make their money.
