Warning Noted

I've been doing a little site maintenance today to close comments on ancient posts because a) random people keep leaving comments on threads that are over a year old and b) comment spammers are annoying.

This task requires reading each thread to seek out and delete anything unwanted, and I came across a comment left on a post by Tripp. After quoting a couple of bible scriptures, the commenter tells us:

note: this is God's word written by the Holy Spirit given to Jesus Christ's beloved friend John by a risen Jesus himself in the final book of the Bible. This is God's true message to a sinful mankind WARNING against witchcraft - rawlings obviously didn't heed God's warning to her - will you heed God's warning to you? Worship her (instead of God) at your peril.

Rawlings didn't heed God's warning? I never knew The Yearling was such a dangerous and seditious book.

comments

Random people. Ha!

I just left a comment over at the Mysterious Skin February 17th entry.

KC, I closed all comments prior to February 2003 because I thought a year was a nice round number for open comments. Good thing you weren't inclined to comment on A Confederacy of Dunces.

I almost missed my chance!

Well, the fawn's name was "Flag" and the devil-guy in The Stand was also named "Flag", so... there you go.

Seriously, though, someone should tell Tripp and John Doe that if they don't know what the hell they're talking about, they should just keep their preachy talk to themselves.

Amy, you're absolutely right! There are hidden messages of evil everywhere. Trust no one. ;)

To defend Tripp, he had good intentions in trying to show me that all Christians don't hate good books just because of the content. He's a good egg and simply the victim of a crazy commenter.
